Modern Standard Lamp Shades

Modern standard lamp shades, often called hard shades, offer both style and durability. Manufacturers laminate the fabric to a PVC backing, which gives the shade structure and helps it keep its shape. Because of this, these shades stay strong, long-lasting and suitable for everyday use.

Fabrics and Custom Options

Our modern standard lamp shades come in a wide range of shapes and sizes. Therefore, they work well with both traditional and contemporary standard lamps. With our shade builder, you can choose from more than 75 stocked fabrics.

For example, popular options include Plain Cotton, Velvet, Brushed Cotton and Faux Silk Dupion. In addition, you can select from 11 lining options. These include soft natural cotton as well as decorative metallic finishes such as gold, copper or silver. As a result, you can create a lampshade that perfectly matches your interior.

One of our most popular designs is the drum standard lamp shade. This shape features clean lines and a simple appearance. Because of its balanced design, it suits both modern and traditional interiors.

However, we also offer several variations of the drum shade. For instance, the tall drum creates a slightly more elegant look, while the French drum introduces a softer shape. Therefore, you can easily choose a style that complements your lamp base and the overall design of your room.

Each lampshade is handmade in our Devon workshop, where we focus on quality, precision and careful craftsmanship. Because of this, every shade reflects our attention to detail and commitment to lasting quality.

We offer a wide choice of shapes and sizes, so you can easily find the right fit for your standard lamp. In addition, you can choose from our in-house collection of more than 300 fabrics. For example, options include Linen, Cotton and Silk Dupion. You can also select trims and finishes to create a classic and elegant lampshade that complements your interior.

Use Your Own Fabric

If you want something truly unique, you can supply your own fabric and trim. This allows you to create a bespoke standard lampshade that perfectly matches your room. For instance, you may choose a specific colour, pattern or material that already appears in your interior design.

Once you choose your fabric, we carefully craft the lampshade to order in our Devon workshop. As a result, your shade reflects your exact style and requirements.

Drum Standard Lamp Shades

The drum standard lamp shade is our most popular style. Many customers love it for its simple shape and timeless design. Because of its clean lines, this shade suits both modern and traditional interiors.

Each drum shade is handmade and available in 36 exclusive Linen colours. You can also choose a metallic lining to give the shade a warm glow. For example, gold, silver or copper linings add extra style and make the lampshade stand out.

Empire Standard Lamp Shades

The Empire standard lamp shade is a classic design that works well with many types of standard lamps. Its gently sloped shape creates a traditional look while still fitting modern interiors.

You can pair our Linen outer fabric with metallic linings in gold, silver or copper. In addition, we can make the shade using your own fabric. This allows you to create a unique lampshade that matches your room perfectly.

Rectangle Standard Lamp Shades

The rectangle standard lamp shade works well in rooms with limited space. Because of its shape, it fits neatly into tighter areas while still giving good light.

You can also add a metallic lining to create a bold and modern look. If you are unsure about the size, cut a piece of card to the same shape and hold it next to your lamp. This simple trick helps you see how the shade will look before ordering.

Online Shade Builder

Our Online Shade Builder lets you design your perfect lampshade from home. You can choose from more than 300 fabrics, including Cotton, Linen and Silk Dupion.

You can also select fittings and lining options to customise every detail. As a result, you can create a shade that suits both your lamp and your room.

Standard Lamp Shade Recovers

Our lampshade recovering service is perfect if you already have a shade you love. For example, many customers bring us shades with special memories or unusual fittings.

We often recover lampshades from overseas lamps, especially those with American-style fittings. These usually have a small hole at the top, similar in size to a polo mint.
